The reel has a good drag system for the size fish you will be catching and balances the rod nicely. There are two size options available a 7'0" 4 to 5 weight rod, perfect for small streams, or an 8'0" 5 to 6 weight rod, great for trout, light bass, perch and the like. The rods have a forgiving medium action for beginners and are a blast to catch fish on. From kids to adults this is a great beginner outfit but not only that, it is a fun rod for any ability level.
