NS Black Hole Explorer pe2

Recently I was given the chance to have a fish with one of the new micro jigging rods from the ever popular NS Black Hole range. The rod in question was the Explorer pe2 that I matched with a 3000 sized shimano reel.
I personally do a lot of shallower water micro jigging and found this little pocket rocket set-up to be a fantastic fit for this application. While I predominately use the 45gram shore trickers, the Explorer was equally effective with jigs from 25-80grams. The shorter length allows anglers to impart their chosen jig action with ease without overworking the wrist and forearm which is often the case with longer rods.
Once hooked up, the long shaped butt section can be tucked under the anglers arm to ensure maximum comfort rather then a big bruising round butt section digging into your underarm. This position also allows the angler to apply a lot of pressure on a hooked fish, whilst still having the rod in a position that can be changed in an instant should the fish dive under the boat or swim around the outboard.
The NS Explorer rods have a very parabolic action when under load. Jigging rods are famous for this taper and the Explorer certainly doesn't disappoint. The parabolic action allows the rod to absorb the lunges from a hooked fish without having to sacrifice any hard earned line or risk pulling hooks.
A word of advice however, these are not long distance casting rods. They are specifically designed for the vertical jigging. If you go chasing tuna schools with them like I did you will notice a drop in cast distance. They are great once you hook up though!
